As one of their Area Instrumentation Engineers, you will provide instrumentation technical expertise for increasing plant reliability. You will recommend and implement technical solutions for extending equipment life, troubleshoot and problem solve instrument issues, develop preventative maintenance plans for all facilities. You will:
• Ensure compliance with all safety, health, environmental and quality standards within the region
• Provide technical, troubleshooting and maintenance support to all 40 plants within the region for all instrumentation equipment including PLC/DCS hardware, control wiring, I/O, transmitters, positioners, control valves, pneumatic systems, and analytical equipment.
• Identify, define, estimate, budget, develop, plan and execute instrumentation turnaround maintenance activities, improvement and re-life projects within the region
• Represent the regions instrumentation reliability interests in the proposal and project commercialization process, including scope and spares input and new plant acceptance
Responsibilities:
• Supports the Area Production Director in achieving key outcomes in safety, reliability, efficiency, cost and customer service
• Supports the Area Reliability and Maintenance team by establishing a culture of safety in working and in the execution of all aspects of the team’s role requirements
• Ensures compliance with all safety, health, environmental and quality standards within the area
• Ensures the reliable and efficient operation of all electrical equipment and instrumentation within the area by:
• Performing electrical equipment and instrument reliability, efficiency and contingency reviews and assessments and monitors the completion of action plans to reduce and eliminate identified gaps and risks
• Proactively reviewing and ensuring up to date electrical equipment and instrument condition-based data and equipment reports to ensure reliable operation
• Supporting the development of instrumentation reliability and maintenance procedures for company internal standards publication
• Reviewing and approving the application of local electrical equipment and instrumentation systems PM’s, work instructions, and related procedures.
• Reviewing the quality and completeness of instrumentation PM execution at assigned plant locations
• Ensuring that agreed electrical equipment and instrumentation maintenance strategies are fully implemented at all sites
• Ensuring that all sites have active instrumentation contingency plans with identified reliability risks mitigated per plan
• Ensuring that critical electrical equipment and instrumentation spare parts are on hand and in a condition for immediate use and are replenished in a timely manner once consumed
• Developing Critical Equipment Quality Control plans for electrical equipment and instrumentation maintenance activities
• Leading the rectification of failed electrical equipment and instrumentation, including EMOC, plant/equipment outage decision making and root cause analysis
• Identifies, defines, estimates, budgets, develops, plans and executes instrumentation turnaround maintenance activities, improvement and relief projects within the area
• Assess the technical competency of instrumentation contractors and service providers to ensure proper scope is assigned and the expected quality is received
• Provides electrical equipment and instrumentation scope, estimation and execution support to the Project Execution team for large capital improvement and relife projects within the area
• Leads and executes electrical equipment and instrumentation programs and projects within each area in support of high-performance operations and continuous improvement within the area.
• Represent the areas electrical equipment and instrumentation reliability interests in the proposal and project commercialization process, including scope and spares input and new plant acceptance
• Completes area electrical equipment and instrumentation reviews of major EMOCs for completeness and consistency with technical standards
• Leads or supports root cause analysis and ensures timely action item closure
• Supports the effort for continuous improvement through EMBRACE and Six Sigma programs
• Works with the Remote Operations Center (ROC) to execute electrical equipment and instrumentation projects and initiatives identified to drive performance and close performance gaps
• Working with the Area Production Director, identifies and develops and delivers technical electrical equipment and instrumentation training for the area
• Leads the training and certification process of all area technicians in regard to NFPA 70E regulations, ensuring proper knowledge and practical training around utilization of electrical equipment within each plant in the area.
• Demonstrates HPO continuous improvement by sharing best practices employed or developed at the company and adopt best practices identified by global peers
• Ensures that applicable material procurement and control processes are consistent with company standards for corporate governance
Qualifications
• A bachelor’s degree in electrical or other relevant engineering discipline
• A minimum of ten years’ experience in instrumentation
• Experience in the installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of PLC/DCS systems; I/O devices including transmitters, positioners, control valves, and analytical equipment.
• Proven experience working with electrical circuits and equipment at 110V and below. Qualification for 480V systems a plus
• A minimum of five years’ experience in operational and engineering environment

Required education:
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering
Required qualifications:
• Minimum 5 years of experience in operational and engineering environment
Minimum 10 years of experience in electrical and instrumentation
• Other qualifications:
• Demonstrated exceptional operational safety leadership
• Minimum 10 years’ experience, with at least 5 years in an operational and engineering environment
Proven experience in the installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of low/medium/high voltage substations, switchgear, transformers, motors, distribution systems and associated protection and support equipment
• Proven experience in electrical short circuit analysis, relay protection settings & coordination, power quality analysis, high voltage motor starting schemes and analysis, hazardous area classification and lightning protection
• Proven experience with plant process and equipment instrumentation including a wide variety of pressure, temperature, and flow devices; including control valves, actuators, limit switches, measurement devices, analog and digital indicators.
• Proven effectiveness at trouble shooting control loops issues, identify problem components and interfaces, and execute effective and efficient solutions to restore critical and needed plant control functions
• General expertise in large high voltage motors and related control systems preferred
• Proven experience in Root Cause Analysis, Cause and Effect or FMEA methodologies
• Proven experience and knowledge of predictive maintenance methodologies and technologies
• Proven understanding of regulatory and industry standards and codes
• Good knowledge of the National Electrical code required
• Experience with CMMS systems required, SAP PM preferred
• Electrical Engineering degree required. Professional qualifications and licensing preferred
• Six Sigma qualification a plus
